Word of the day: independently
Remember that tomorrow is a noon dismissal for students.
Study for the weather words spelling test tomorrow.
Get the Book and Tell sheet completed and rehearsed for tomorrow!
Thanks to Addi's family for bringing us an egg incubator today. We should all be proud parents of some cute little baby chicks in about 3 weeks!

Word of the day: invincible
We talked about different ways people can get around and came up with quite an extensive (and creative) list. It included travel by: train, bus boat, airplane, trucks or cars or vans, subway, bicycle, foot, scooter, motorcycle/dirt bike, wheelchair, sled, swimming, walking on your hands, pogo stick, teleporter, roller skates, helicopter, horse/pony, parachute, hang-gliding, broomstick, dolphin, tramway, bull, rocket, holding onto tons of balloons, hot air balloon, flying saucer, unicorn, by umbrella (if you're Mary Poppins), some farm animals, flying carpet, snowmobile, skis, skates, snowboard, dogsled, camel and stilts. Pretty impressive!
The Grade One and Two classes had a presentation on "Hands Are Not For Hitting" today. They completed booklets with the presenters - check the front pocket of the agenda.
We have some pretty dastardly pirates in the class. Check out the mugs below.

Word of the day: serendipity
Study for tomorrow's "oo" spelling test.
There is no book to read and write about today. Instead, students are bringing home a "Stuffy and Tell" sheet. They need to write about a stuffed animal - what its name is, where it sleeps, what it does when the kids are at school, its favourite hockey team, its allergies .... whatever! - on the sheet in the front pocket of the agenda and return to school tomorrow with the completed sheet and the stuffy in tow.
Book orders are due tomorrow.
If anyone would like to support the Playground and Schoolyard Greening Project by ordering from the V.I.P. Food Services form that was sent out earlier this month, you can still place orders - right up until May 24th. I have extra order forms if anyone needs an extra.

Thanks to all the great "Shoe and Tell" contributions today! We had every thing from baby shoes to sports shoes to a leprechaun bootie to an outrageously gorgeous wedding boot - well done, everyone!
Thanks, too, to all the people who supported the student council's dress-up day - what fun!
Here's a photographic peek at today's "Shoe and Tellers":
Enjoy the weekend - hopefully this afternoon's weather is a signal that the month-long April Foolery is over ....

(Review) word of the day: prodigious
Remember that there will be no Read and Write assignment tonight. Instead, students can prepare a short write-up for tomorrow's Show and Tell (which will be a "Shoe and Tell" this week). Paper for this homework is in the front pocket of the agendas.
Also, tomorrow afternoon the students council is inviting people to dress for a "boy-girl switch day" where the girls will dress as boys and vice versa. As always, students are not required to participate.
Phoebe's babies are growing to beat the band - check out the link at the side!
