Spelling test books went home for parent signatures today. Please return the books Monday morning.
Please remember that our class has swimming lessons next week, in the afternoons, from 1:55 until 2:35. We will return to the school after our lessons to dismiss from here. Please send swimming gear next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
It's hard to believe that September has already come and gone! October - and more learning from these amazing students of Room Four - awaits!

Tomorrow the students are all invited to wear orange shirts, to recognize residential school survivors. It should be a colourful day here in Room Four!
Remember that tomorrow we'll have our weekly spelling test, and that there will be a noon dismissal for students.

We had a toast to science today, while we were having apple taste tests. We learned that good scientists always record their findings, so we recorded our reactions to the taste of apple juice, applesauce, apple cereal, and apple jelly. Some fun!
We also learned about using tallies (check your child's agenda for an apple worksheet on tallies), and made some smashing cornflake leaf art projects. The excitement never ends here in Room Four!

We had an introduction to Uri today - the dog that will be assisting one of our Grade Five students. The class was VERY attentive and very well-behaved. We learned that when Uri is at school, we should follow the "No touch, no talk, no eye contact" rule, because Uri is hard at work, and shouldn't be distracted.
There is a note in your child's agenda pocket regarding an attempted abduction in our community. Please read the note carefully. In class, we discussed what you should do if a stranger tries to take you away, and decided that NO MATTER WHAT you should NEVER go with him or her.
The second graders are going on a field trip to the Miette Hot Springs this Thursday. They'll be gone all day. They'll need to bring a lunch, appropriate clothing and footwear, and swimming gear for this event.
Keep up the great work with the book bags, everyone!

Welcome to our class blog! I'll use this space to post announcements, photos, reminders, etc. Please try exploring some of the links at the side, as well. I recommend the Starfall site for beginning readers; it's got lots of great lessons, stories, and reviews.
The new spelling list of "et" words went home in the agendas today. Everyone did very well on last week's spelling test; I'm sure the class will shine again this Friday.
Speaking of Friday, there will be a noon dismissal for students this Friday.
We introduced the concepts of odd and even numbers today. We found that even numbers of objects can be broken into 2 even piles; odd numbers of objects cannot.
Some of the students thought we had swimming this week. Our class swims in the afternoons (Monday to Thursday) next week.
Beginning tomorrow, the students will be writing their own agenda entries; hold your breath, everyone!
