November 3, 2010

Just a reminder that the book fair is open tonight until 7:00 in the library upstairs.

There is a School Advisory Council meeting tonight as well - at 7:00 in the staffroom upstairs. Everyone is welcome to attend.

There is another cookie sale tomorrow. Dig out those quarters!

There will be no school for students this Friday afternoon. Hopefully the beautiful weather will hold until then so that everyone can get outside to enjoy the time away from studies!

We were reviewing the concepts of "more than" and "less than" today in math. Some students are struggling to understand the meanings of these terms. A good way to practise at home is to count a set number of items - buttons, pennies, chocolate chips, spoons - whatever - with the child and then have them show what one (or two or three or four) MORE would look like. Then do the same thing with the idea of one (or two or three or four) LESS.

We worked on reviewing the short "e" sound today; this goes along with the "Brett, My Pet" book. Lots of the students are beginning to smooth out their reading now - it's great to see the progress.

The guitar factory here in Room 4 opened up today. The guitars should be "sparkle-ized" and strung and ready for viewing by next Monday morning. Hold your breath!
