(Review) word of the day: tranquil

Report cards went home today, with parent comment sheets, interview notices, and report card envelopes to be returned tomorrow.

There will be no spelling list or test for the first graders this week.

The leprechaun caused quite the mess in our classroom over the weekend. We nearly caught him in one of our traps, but he managed to elude capture in the end. Maybe next year .....

Our "rubber egg" turned out really well! We found that it could survive a 10 cm fall, but not a 20 cm one! We also learned how to tell hard boiled eggs from raw ones - without cracking the shell! Tune in tomorrow for more egg news.

Our worm farm babysitting is coming along nicely. There are tons of the little wigglers in the bucketk! In honour of the worms, and in keeping with the second grade science "Small Crawling and Flying Animals" unit, we made worm tunnels (and worms to go in them!) in class today. They're drying on desktops as I write this, but should be ready for a bulletin board display tomorrow. Hold your breath!
