October 5, 2016

The first graders are starting a new part of their at-home learning today: reading to a parent! It only seems fair that your children should read to you, since you've spent so many hours reading to them! There should be a gold envelope in your child's backpack. Inside there'll be a book for them to read to you. (Your job is outlined on the envelope's attached paper.) Please print the book's title on the envelope, then send both book and envelope back to school the next day for another exciting literary installation to be chosen! (It's perfectly okay for the children to use pictures and patterning to help them read; these are valid reading strategies.) Have fun with this!

Remember that the first grade class is swimming tomorrow afternoon.

There is a school council meeting tonight upstairs at 7:00 in the staffroom.  We're still hoping to have someone volunteer for a class rep; feel free to attend tonight's meeting if the prospect tempts you!

There will be a noon dismissal for students this Friday.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to our ever-growing "Souper Sharing" stack of soup cans!
