The big news for today is that we are changing the home learning component for first grade students. First graders will now choose their own golden envelope book (within certain parameters, of course) and will write about their choices in a little notebook (tucked into the golden envelope). There are sentence starters glued into the inside cover of the writing book; please have your child vary the sentence starters they use, and have them colour or shade in a square beside the sentence starter, so that they (and I!) can see that they're using various beginnings to their written offering.
This writing component will definitely strengthen the students' reading - and vice versa. Thanks for your support with this.
