January 5, 2010

Word of the day: Janus (Parents, ask your child to explain who Janus was and what was unusual about his appearance.)

Reminders:
1. Math sheet is due tomorrow. If anyone is having problems with the questions, these things may help:
A. Reread the problem.
B. Be crystal clear on what the question is asking.
C. Ask "What do I know about this problem?" (For example, you may
need to know that there are 100 cm in a metre or that there are
60 minutes in an hour.
D. Try drawing a picture to illustrate the problem's information.
E. Try something! Add, subtract, etc., then ask if the result is
reasonable.
2. Book orders are due this Friday.
3. Be prepared to tell which of Liu Bolin's photographs you like best, and tell why you like it. (We read a selection about sea creatures in our new reading text. The story we read had quite a few examples of camoflage. You'll see how Liu Bolin relates to camoflage when you look at his photographs. To find the photos, just click on the following words: Liu Bolin.
