February 15, 2017

The Grade One word of the day for today was unique. We talked about tongue twisters when this word was introduced; try saying unique New York five times without making a mistake!

The Grade Two word of the day was inevitable.

The first grade students' book for home reading tonight is The Square Egg. There are lots of opportunities to practice the "qu" sound in this book.

The first graders have begun some Number of the Day activities. They'll soon be experts on identifying odd and even numbers, adding ten more (or taking away 10) from numbers, ordinal numbers, expanded notation, representing numbers with coins, and breaking down numbers into tens and ones. Woop woop!

The second graders have begun a little enrichment exercise in math: learning to tell time on an analogue clock. Some students are getting the hang of this pretty quickly!
